Contractors for a Cause is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization of local contractors that strive to give back to the community that supports them. The CFAC Maryland Chapter is based in Worcester County, Maryland in the Ocean City area. CFAC holds annual events and scholarships to help out other local organizations and young adults.
We had our 1st Annual Golf Tournament at the Ocean City Golf & Country Club in August. This was a great success, and we raised close to $15,000! If you missed out on the fun, we hope to see you there next year. The money we raised is being spent back into our community.
We have installed 3 new HVAC units at Diakonia. Many thanks to Arctic Air, Bob Frick, and Beachwood Construction for their help on this! Three down, three to go!
A friend of ours has ALS and attends an ALS clinic. This clinic has several people who are in financial distress, along with their medical issues, who are in need of various services. So far we've been able to help assist them by finishing the drywall in a bathroom, installing cabinets and flooring in the kitchen, and building a needed handicap ramp for access.
We have started working on our 1st Annual Maryland Legacy Scholarship Program. This is a $1,500 scholarship that will be awarded to a senior at Stephen Decatur High School that is interested in a career in the building industry (building, contracting, architect, engineering, etc.). Thank you to Joe Willey for initiating this, and thank you to Josh Martin (Seaside Plumbing) for residing as chairman on this Scholarship.
Helping Hands is a program offering disadvantaged community members free services and professional advice in the field of home construction, maintenance and repair.
The Justin W. Jennings Foundation, which is committed to building a hospice house for cancer victims in Bethany Beach. Completed the "Justin Beach House" and housed their first family this past December, 2010.
CFAC also supports other local organizations and individuals like Willie Cannon -- "Willies Neighborhood," Justin Lowe Foundation, "Hit the Road Jack" Fund Raising Adventures and Chamber of Commerce Events in their quest to better the community.
