Community Sponsorship

Willy Cannon is a 54 year old finish carpenter who, up until this past November, was a healthy, six-pack abs kind of guy who did all the things a husband and a father does and more. In addition to providing for his family, he did the grocery shopping, the cooking, the laundry, and the coaching. Willy has been diagnosed with Lyme disease, and in a matter of months, has lost the use of his arms, hands, and the ability to swallow or talk. He is currently on a feeding tube and a ventilator. Since being diagnosed with Lyme, Willy has had to stop working, and his wife Mary has committed to taking care of him 24 hours a day. In addition to paying the ordinary household bills, Willy and Mary need to pay for full time in-home care that is not covered by insurance so that his wife Mary can return to work as a school nurse at Indian River High School in Frankford, Delaware. If she cannot return to work, she could eventually lose health insurance coverage for her family.

Willy and Mary have a large community of friends in Ocean View, Bethany Beach, Fenwick, and surrounding areas, that have come together to help with the daily routine. Willy and Mary have both done so much for their community in the past 25 years. It's now time for us to return the favor.

We don't know what the future holds for Willy. But we have been given the chance to help him heal and survive. With this fundraiser, we hope to continue his care at home and bring him back to health so he can achieve his greatest dream – to see their children, Emma and Sam, attend college.
